BLUE PORTLAND MAINE
Blue Portland Maine (BPM), is Portland’s jazz and jam band spot which recently became a non-profit. “BPM believes that high quality, independent places for independent artists to perform and build community are valuable to our culture.” Hear, hear!
Frequently having open mic nights for those who want to show off their own musical skill, or comedy sketches, Blue certainly has a different vibe than Geno’s. No overhead lights, fancy drinks and a diverse crowd of feminists, old-heads, millenials, and of course, me.
My favorite artists I’ve seen at Blue is EnIaM (pronounced IN-I-am). EnIaM “is a spell for love and revolution spanning the genres of R&B, Jazz-Underground and Indie Rock. EnIaM is cursed, blessed, insanity, reality and good-structured spontaneity. We explore the proximity of authenticity to power, and bend free worlds into existence.”
I found it thought provoking. I’ll drop a review for it soon.
